About our church
Founded over 70 years ago, we desire to continue the tradition of fostering community, holding to the truth of Scripture, and glorifying God together. We're located next to the campus of Lamar University, where the nations move to our neighborhood. Our congregation is a diverse and varied group where anyone can feel welcome.

After spending many years on the mission field, we are thrilled to be under the teaching direction of David Shirey. He has been Lamar Baptist Church’s Lead Pastor since 2020.

We are located right off of the campus of Lamar University. Our church building sits on the corner of Rolfe Christopher Drive and Oregon Avenue. Go here for more information

No, we are not. However, we love our location next to campus and are happy to serve Lamar and LIT students with needs they may have.

Our main worship service is on Sundays at 11:00. Our service includes worship with song, scripture reading, and prayer, then is followed by a teaching from our Pastor, David Shirey.

Currently, our congregation is making its way through and learning from the book of John.
